Just a few things I've been working on

Floppy Images & HOWTO

Info on how I made a bootable USB flash drive with the Memtest86 RAM tester and Hitachi Drive Fitness Tester.

WOW! An update quick and dirty buildroot howto a work in progress

A little howto for creating a Linux Floppy and an updated version

The tclDisk

A linux floppy template with room to expand. Just edit the config dir, add your modules, some binaries and you have your own linux floppy without the need to do the tough stuff.

  • Syslinux Template Disk Simple syslinux disk which can be easily modified to fit your needs.
  • Syslinux floppy 0.2 - Dhcp script error messages are gone, the root fs has been changed to minix (should save some space but I haven't looked at the numbers), and it tries to untar the file bin.tgz from the floppy into /usr/local/bin (for those static binaries you want on the disk). (Jan 22, 2003)
  • Syslinux floppy - My first attempt at a syslinux floppy disk. It is dos formatted so editing it should be simpler. This has 3com 590,509, intel etherexpress100, and pegasus USB support. It also is able to configure itself with dhcp (though with some error messages). I am going to work on cleaning this up and adding some feature soon. (Jan 14, 2003)
  • Ghost Floppy - Here is a new image which includes a small http daemon, a dhcp client not run by default (required a little configuration but should work, see For Documentation), and support for ntfs, ext2, reiserfs, fat, minix fs and a few SCSI controllers (AIC78xx and TekRam). This floppy could be used to "ghost" a machine by running cd /;httpd. One could access it using a web broswers to download http://floppy.booted.machine/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/disc. I will try to alter this image a little, maybe have it try to get an IP by dhcp and fall back to asking if it fails. Also it would be nice to have the disk mount all available partitions read-only and auto start the http process. I will try to get that done in the next few days.
  • Rescue2 w/ ALI ide
  • i386 rescue2 - Rescue 2 floppy compiled for i386 and above machines (Most my floppies are compiled for pentium and above).
  • Rescue Floppy 2 - One of my first floppy images, with SCSI, ext3, reiserfs, ntfs support and more.
  • Rescue Floppy 1 - for history's sake, my first publicly available floppy

    Software Suggestions

Here is a page summarizing the internet service daemons that I prefer most. These are programs I feel most confident of; they seem secure and are not too difficult to setup and use.

    Daemontools

this page contains some example run scripts for use with D.J. Bernsteins daemontools software.

    Web

tclWebMail is my simple, single file (okay it also includes a stylesheet), php webmail script. Feel free to email me if you have any ideas for this.

Short Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) tutorial I made up for a friend.

Some php scripts for a simple mysql weblog. This allows for a user to post to a weblog and have it inserted into any php page with just a few lines of code. I found a small blogger program that looks promising called nanoblogger

    Other

Here are some random notes I have made. If I ever get a free weekend I will try to make a nice database out of there.
